FAQ
WHO AM I MARKETING TO:
I am marketing to any reader. The emphasis is to market mainly to teachers and school systems. If class sets are purchased, usually a school system purchases the books. I have however, sold many copies to the classroom teacher.
WHAT CURRICULUM REQUIREMENT WILL IT MEET?
The curriculum requirement that will be met would be social studies enrichment. According to the State Farm 2007 Survey (ncee.net) states have adopted some form for students to be taught entrepreneurship. U.S. House Resolution 699 supports the Goals and Ideas of National Entrepreneurship Week (February 20-27, 2010) and Encouraging the Implementation of Entrepreneurship programs in elementary and secondary school and institutions of higher education throughout the United States.
If a school system buys the book in bulk, I would give free consulting services to their teachers through email, telephone calls, or visiting their schools—depending on the districts commitment to entrepreneurship education. Districts would also be offered discounts.
WHY TEACHERS WILL WANT THIS BOOK:
With the crowded curriculum that classroom teachers face today, the purpose of this book is to combine social studies and economics vocabulary with reading/literature. This book could be taught either through team teaching or by a single classroom teacher, depending on the structure of the school.
Teachers and students have always enjoyed sharing a story. I was a classroom teacher for forty-three years, and sometimes when given ONE MORE thing to teach, my next question would be, “You want me to teach what, when?” That is why this book was written in the format it is. My desire is that a classroom teacher will find this an interesting way to continue the study of economics vocabulary, combined with reading/reading/literature/English.
I wanted teachers who had little or no studies in the area of economics to learn the vocabulary with their students. I believe that teachers care about new areas, but often are given little or no training—just told to do it. This book is an all inclusive book.
The pages for students that are included in this guide are based on the idea of multiple-intelligence and strategies that work. I wanted to give teachers teaching ideas instead of having them search through other materials to expand the classroom experience. Teachers have enough to do without extra burden being placed on them.
I wrote this book from the “heart of a teacher.”
